New Members


To register as a BDDA Player you must:

1) Meet our governing body the World ParaDarts Eligibility Criteria (based on the International Paralympic Association guidelines), please read this document (It can be found on the button below) to see if you meet the qualifying criteria.
2) If you are uncertain if you meet the qualifying criteria please email us at; bdda.secretary@britishdisabilitydarts.co.uk or email us via the contacts tab with your name, disability details and contact number so we call you to discuss.
3) Get the BDDA Medical Assessment Form, (which can be found on the button below) completed and signed by your doctor or consultant.
4) Complete the Registration application form and send it to us with:
a) The BDDA Medical Assessment Form
b) A copy of your PIP or DLA letter.
5) Email the documents to us at enquries@britishdisabilitydarts.co.uk

Next your medical assessment form will be reviewed by World ParaDarts, who will confirm if you are eligible to play or if more information is required. Once we hear back from World ParaDarts regarding your eligibility we will contact you regarding your membership request.

Please note:
Any Player who wishes to compete in ParaDarts must satisfy the British Disability Darts Association and World ParaDarts that he or she has an Eligible Impairment. This could require further information in addition to the medical assessment, depending on individual's circumstances. It is the players responsibility to provide the information required to show that they have the eligible impairment which may include details of any diagnostics under taken my medical practitioners. This information must be provided by the player before before any reviews or decisions can be made. 

It can take between 1 and 8 weeks to process an application, please ensure if there is a particular tournament you want to play in you allow plenty of time for the registration process to be completed before the closing date of the tournament.

All new membership will be on a probationary membership for the first 12 months subject to the BDDA committee’s acceptance and confirmation and full membership will start after 12 months and will be confirmed by the BDDA at that time.

It is every Players duty to ensue they are familiar with all the BDDA rules and policies, please as a new player ensure you have read all the documents on the "Rules and Handbook" tab

There is an annual registration fee, currently £15, which includes your £5 World ParaDarts annual fee, it is due upon confirmation of your registration as an eligible player and then annually in September.

Important notice Regarding Probationary Membership
During the first year, probationary period the BDDA trustees can terminate the membership with a simple majority vote of the BDDA committee if they have a reasonable belief of the following:
a. They are advised that the probationary member’s actions are bringing the BDDA, Disability Darts or the Sport of Darts into disrepute.
b. The probationary member’s actions are working against the purposes of the BDDA.
c. The probationary member has overstated the effect his disability has on the way they play darts.
In the circumstances details above the trustees can terminate probationary membership with immediate effect and must confirm this to the probationary member in writing.
This decision can be made without formal disciplinary action by a simple majority vote of the BDDA committee and with the committee taking into account the circumstances, with or without written evidence, and acting in the best interests of the charity and its members.
