Ricky started playing darts at the age of 18 for local pub leagues. At the age of 14, Ricky had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer (Ewings Sarcoma) and had his hip and femur replaced by titanium prosthesis which saved his life. In 2007, aged 34 Ricky had his left hip, pelvis and leg amputated following complications with the prosthesis and cancer. 


On the 12th October 2014 Ricky won the World Disability Darts Association (WDDA) Winmau World Masters Championships 2014.

At the end of 2017 Ricky ranked no 2 in the new BDDA annual ranking tables

He was a semi Finalist in the WDDA Winmau World Masters Championship 2017

Ricky was selected to play for Wales at the first ever WDDA World Cup 2019 in Ostend, Belgium, February 2019. He captained the Welsh team who narrowly lost in the finals to become the runners up.

Ricky then went on to win the Silver the following day in the individual Wheelchair Classifications
